Search engines do have a mild preference to the pages that are well linked, though it is definitely not its most important selection criterion. It is important enough for the page owner to give some attention to the idea of link building, because it is not a completely insignificant aspect of search engine optimization.
Base links are those to which the pages are easily connected like links from articles directories, press releases, social networks, web sites, and discussion forums. And to be able to generate those base links, you have got to have a functional web site, the contents of which are qualitatively good and have good keyword density. You must have a proper link building plan, and must have the readiness to spend at least a couple of hours on it every week.
Do not rest assured that your page will have a good ranking just because you have linked it with a number of press releases, forums, articles, and book marking sites. But getting it linked to all these would definitely help in the back-linking campaign. While these do help, even among forums, articles, and web directories, some work better than others.
With all its importance in promoting social networking, forums are no perfect places to link your page to. The data contained therein is no researched or experimented data and may even include a bit of heresy. So, a link to a forum may do nothing to add to the attractiveness of the page.
How to base-link effectively
- Unraveling the way in which your competitors are working, is one of the ways in which you can manage your linking job.
- And if you are linking, link it to something worthwhile. Linking just to show that they are linked, does not make any sense at all.
- Be persistent about what you are doing. Once you have decided to do it, you have to go on with it and increase it on a consistent basis.
- If you thought it is some instant formula, you are completely wrong. It will take its own time to produce the results.
And remember that there are no short cuts to succeed by link building. You will have to rough it out the hard way.
